Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Tues. August 25th, 2026

August 25, 2026

Chris Holski fills in for the vacationing Kristy Cameron. If you've delved into the depths of Canada's history, you know that Canada’s Great Lakes have a storied past. For over 100 years, Canada and the United States have peacefully shared them. But today, an interesting development in that lengthy history has surfaced, and it’s coming from the White House. If launched on September 8th, this punch-back would impact roughly 700 different American products, and would be imposed on $27.6 billion worth of American imports. The tariffs would vary from 15 percent, to 25 percent, and even 50 percent. However, at the moment, energy-related countermeasures are off the table. Good enough, too far, or too weak? We check in with Dean Wood, the President of Borderworx Logistics. It helps Canadian companies distribute their products within the United States.
