From Loblaws to Scotiabank, some Canadian websites are now displaying maps with Lake Ontario renamed to Lake America. At one point this past weekend, Hydro Ottawa’s Outage Map also said Lake America, but that was corrected this morning. It comes after U.S. President Trump’s latest attempt to stir up a hornet’s nest in the Great White North, signing an executive order last Thursday to Americanize a popular Great Lake. U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum oversees the Board of Geographic Names, who regulates names on maps. He expects that Apple Maps will follow Google’s lead as well. We check in with Kamilla Bonnesen, a postdoctoral fellow at UOttawa’s Brain and Behaviour Lab. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.

Nearly one in two Canadians would vote for Mark Carney’s Liberals if an election were held today, according to a new Postmedia-Leger poll . The Liberals continue to lead nationally with 49 per cent support among decided voters and up three points since August. Meanwhile, the Conservatives are sitting at 33 per cent (down one point). “These results confirm once again that when Canada-U.S. relations take a downturn and/or President Trump starts attacking Canada, that’s good news for the Liberal Party, and it seems, bad news for Conservatives,” says Andrew Enns, executive vice-president...
