Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. September 10th, 2026

September 10, 2026

In October, OC Transpo plans to begin pre-trial running on the O-Train East Extension. At least, that is the plan. And that light-rail line, once completed and given the green light by the proper authorities, will eventually bring LRT commuters all the way to Orleans. However, we still don’t have a firm timeline to open it, and OC Transpo GM Rick Leary isn’t committing to any exact dates at this time. First things first, we have to go through 21 days of testing, and that run needs to be flawless. If a problem occurs, we have to start at Day 1 again. If all goes well, then maybe a grand opening in November is within reach. Kristy Cameron checks in with Ajay Ramachandran, a member with Better Transit Ottawa, in Hour 1. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
