Life as we know it was forever changed 25 years ago after a series of horrific events unfolded South of the border. A pair of hijacked airplanes barrelled into the Twin Towers, turning an iconic piece of New York City into scrap metal in a matter of minutes. Hundreds of people lost their lives on that fateful Tuesday morning in 2001. Countless families were torn apart. And in a small slice of Newfoundland, Canada became a safe haven for many terrified Americans. Today, the friendship between the two countries is a bit strained, but the tariff bad blood is being pushed aside for the next 24 hours. Where were you when life changed forever? What was going through your mind as the Twin Towers came crashing down? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Then, we check in with CTV’s Adrian Ghobrial, who is reporting from New York City today. He spoke to a Canadian widow who was deeply impacted by 9/11, and he also reflects on Canada’s contributions in Afghanistan following those attacks.
