In one of Quebec’s biggest cities, traffic signs forbid right turns on a red light. And while you can’t legally pull that off in Montreal, a right-turn-on-red is not illegal in Ontario. Here in Ottawa, however, calls are growing to change that. At the very least, traffic safety advocates are calling for conversations and debates to be held about this issue. The Public Health Agency of Canada says this year’s first human case of West Nile virus acquired within the country has been confirmed in Toronto. The confirmation comes after Toronto Public Health said its first laboratory-confirmed case of the virus in 2025 is an adult resident of the city with no travel history.The virus is transmitted to humans through infected mosquitoes.
