The City of Ottawa has received an application to redevelop the gas station at 1660 Merivale Road into a drive-thru fast food restaurant. The site application will not be voted on by members of City Council, as it already meets the zoning requirements. However, not everyone is thrilled with this idea, including the councillor for College Ward. Laine Johnson argues that the drive-thru will fuel more traffic, resulting in a lineup of idling vehicles. Furthermore, she is also concerned about noise pollution and pedestrian safety. Johnson joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.

A Calabogie Facebook group was buzzing with concern after a resident posted a photo of a deer that was stranded on thin ice. The deer had fallen into the Madawaska River on Monday, but had managed to crawl out of it near the Burnstown Bridge. It appears that bus cancellations at OC Transpo have reached a tipping point. As you heard last week, Ottawa was supposed to have 106 electric buses, but we only have 36 of them due to a backlog of orders.
