Bruyere Health is laying off 55 frontline health workers, according to the Canadian Union of Public Employees. It says the cuts will include 46 personal support workers and 9 nurses. Back in October, Ontario’s Financial Accountability Officer projected a reduction in 9,000 nursing and PSW positions by 2027-2028, which are largely based around the Ford government’s spending plan. Drivers in Ottawa are feeling the ripple effects of the latest conflict in the Middle East, as gas prices sharply spiked this weekend.
