Dear Riley,
I understand that now, during budget discussions, there is a concern emerging that public washrooms for the Trillium and Confederation lines may not be supported.
To me, this is simply ludicrous. As a frequent business traveller, I know that basic amenities like this are essential even to people in good health. We ought also to think of the inconvenience, discomfort, and dignity of our elders, young families, visitors to the our capital, and all those afflicted with gastrointestinal diseases and bladder ailments.
If we fail to build transit that respects human beings and incorporates the learnings of modern urban design, why would we expect the public to embrace it and use it regularly? Is turning a blind eye to sound, human centred design a wise use of our tax dollars?
I would also welcome your particular attention and comment regarding any provisions that may apply under the Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
