Repeal Bill C-51

Dear Canadian Political Party Leaders:

Canadian experts have spoken loudly and clearly against Bill C-51. Lawyers, privacy commissioners, intelligence officers, indigenous groups, activists – all have said that Bill C-51 is a reckless, dangerous and ineffective bill that will do nothing to thwart terrorism. Instead, it will build a police state that answers to no one and nothing – certainly not to Canada’s constitution.

That this terrible bill passed through parliament speaks to the cynical political calculations of the Conservative majority and the Liberal leader. Canadians – including very ordinary Canadians such as myself – understand that much. This bill has the potential for several violations of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Amendments are not sufficient; C-51 needs to be repealed completely. 

Please stop Bill C-51 in its tracks by promising to repeal it if you win the federal election on October 19, 2015.
