Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. July 25th, 2024

July 25, 2024
In the month of July, we have seen a fair amount of whacky weather in Canada’s Capital, some of which has been very nerve-wracking for our listeners to monitor. With some of Wednesday’s nasty systems boasting the potential of producing a tornado, a weather alert could be enough to save you from tragedy. That is, if you get one. And on Wednesday, not everyone did. In fact, Steve Bunda was the only CFRA Newsroom employee who received the warning. Kristy Cameron tries to get some answers in Hour 1. First, she chats with Martin Bélanger, who is the Director of Public Alerting at the Pelmorex Alerting System, one of the companies that looks after the Alert Ready System. Later in the program, we survey Wednesday’s damage near Perth with David Sills, who is tasked with leading the Northern Tornadoes Project. And finally, we open the floor to the mighty CFRA Nation.
