Calgary’s water pipe repair ahead of schedule, mayor says

Calgary’s mayor says repairs on a troubled water main are ahead of schedule in Calgary.The massive Bearspaw South Feeder Main in the city’s northwest burst in June, forcing the city to ban outdoor water use and urge Calgarians to use their toilets, showers, washing machines and dishwashers less.A second round of repairs and restrictions that began in late August were slated to be completed Sept. 23, with water rationing to end three days later.

The sexual-assault trial of Magna International founder Frank Stronach will be transferred to Toronto from Peel Region, a court ruled on Monday.Justice of the Peace Francois Cloutier, in Peel Region’s Brampton court, approved the move of the trial of Mr. Stronach, who faces a total of 18 counts involving 13 women, including rape and forcible confinement. The offences are alleged to have occurred between 1977 and 2024 in Toronto and York Region, not Peel.Mr. Stronach, through his lawyer, has said he will plead not guilty. He did not appear in court.
