More cases of parasite causing deadly whirling disease in fish found in B.C. waters

The British Columbia government says it has detected more cases of a parasite that Parks Canada describes as potentially devastating to young trout and salmon.The provincial Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship says three trout samples from the southern arm of Kootenay Lake have tested positive for the parasite that causes whirling disease.
As Canadians take time off to celebrate the holidays, many federal offices, stores and businesses will be closed across the country on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Prime Minister Trudeau likely had high hopes that he could simply fire Chrystia Freeland and quickly slide Mark Carney in to replace her as finance minister. Carney has long been sought after by the Liberal party as its potential leader. That plan failed miserably, with Trudeau having to get close friend Dominic LeBlanc to be finance minister. Carney likely had no desire to become leader of a party that could spend eight years in the wilderness. Read More
