Prime Minister Trudeau likely had high hopes that he could simply fire Chrystia Freeland and quickly slide Mark Carney in to replace her as finance minister. Carney has long been sought after by the Liberal party as its potential leader. That plan failed miserably, with Trudeau having to get close friend Dominic LeBlanc to be finance minister. Carney likely had no desire to become leader of a party that could spend eight years in the wilderness. Read More
