Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s top staffer has sent a note to ministers’ chiefs of staff about the need for a “strong mandate” from the public in the face of Donald Trump’s tariff threats – another indication the government is preparing for an early election.Mr. Ford’s chief of staff Patrick Sackville said the Premier will need to stand up to Mr. Trump, the federal government and other provinces in the face of “existential threats” to the economy, according to an email obtained by the Globe and Mail.
