Buffy Sainte-Marie says she has returned her Order of Canada “with a good heart” and reasserts that she never lied about her identity.In her first statement since she was stripped of the award, the singer-songwriter says that she’s an American citizen and holds a U.S. passport but was adopted as a young adult by a Cree family in Saskatchewan.
The B.C. government has tabled a budget that predicts the province’s economy will ride the edge of a recession in an uncertain year ahead defined by U.S. tariffs.The budget documents, released Tuesday, were based on forecasts that were out of date even before they were released because they did not include the impact of U.S. tariffs, forcing the finance ministry to come up with new economic assumptions as recently as February.
