Hundreds of people gathered on Parliament Hill to wave the flag and celebrate being Canadian as U.S. President Donald Trump threatens Canada with economy wide tariffs and talks about annexing the country. (Mar. 9, 2025)
It is clear by now that U.S. President Donald Trump has Canada in the crosshairs. While he has threatened, paused, levied and equivocated on his tariff threats, it is evident that Canada is now, at the very least, in economic conflict with our closest neighbour and largest trading partner. Trump’s attempts to undermine and destabilize us are unlikely to end soon. Read More

France Bélisle was the first woman elected mayor of Gatineau, in 2021. She resigned abruptly just a little over a year ago, on Feb. 22, 2024. She cited toxicity in politics as one of the main factors for her sudden departure. Then we learned that nearly 800 municipal politicians in Quebec had also resigned since the 2021 elections. Now Bélisle has a brand new book about her experience, and I find it fascinating for the larger political moment we’re in. Read More
