Vehicles powered by electricity may soon no longer be limited to the ground, with research in Canada progressing into the testing of e-planes. A University of Waterloo researcher and associate professor, for instance, is working to bring e-planes to the local skies in what could be the future of regional flight.

The Supreme Court of Canada has ordered a new trial in the case of Jennifer Pan, a Markham woman who arranged a murder-for-hire plot in 2010 that left her mother dead and her father critically injured.The court found that the trial judge failed to properly instruct the jury, affirming a 2023 Ontario Court of Appeal ruling that ordered a new trial. The appeal court ruling upheld the convictions of Ms. Pan and four co-accused in the attempted murder of her father, but overturned their 2014 murder convictions in the shooting death of Ms. Pan’s mother.
