The proprietor, 56-year-old Kevin Simmonds – best known for his bellowing laugh and penchant for suspenders – makes it clear to staff at his pub in the tiny seaside town of Saint Andrews, N.B.: “We don’t talk about politics. And we don’t talk about religion.”
