Next few months ‘critical’ in advancing infrastructure projects, Carney tells premiers

June 2, 2025
Prime Minister Mark Carney says the next few months will be critical to his government’s mission of advancing projects in the national interest, as he gathered with the country’s premiers for a meeting focused on fast-tracking major infrastructure and reducing barriers to interprovincial trade.Speaking at the opening of the first ministers’ meeting in Saskatoon on Monday, Mr. Carney said time is of the essence to pursue his government’s agenda to build a stronger Canadian economy in the face of threats from U.S. President Donald Trump and to break down trade barriers between the provinces and territories.
