Hour 4 of Ottawa Now for Fri. June 13th, 2025

June 13, 2025
The spring intake boom has officially blossomed at the Ottawa Humane Society, as employees kick into overdrive. Compared to 2024, when it comes to animals in need of care, they are reporting an 18 percent increase. On a per-day basis, that is roughly 17 animals. On a per-day basis, it costs $34 to care for each one. And in the last 7 days alone, 40 kittens have entered through the front doors. Kristy Cameron digs deeper with Sharon Miko, the President and CEO of the OHS, in Hour 4. Meantime, if you are looking for a reason to visit the ByWard Market, a South American kitchen is opening up shop where Pure Kitchen used to be. Joining the show with his elevator pitch is Lizardo Becerra, the owner and head chef of Barrio. And finally, if you feel like chowing down on some popcorn this weekend, Matt Demers has got you covered with his Weekly Movie Picks!
