Upcoming construction work in the Ottawa City Hall parking garage

June 30, 2025
The Ottawa City Hall parking garage will be undergoing maintenance and renewal work until the end of September. This work is part of the lifecycle renewal project to ensure longevity of the parking structure and prevent future increased repair costs. Work will take place on the east side of the garage on both P1 and P2, including the internal ramps connecting both levels. The construction will be conducted in phases to maximize available parking spaces while work is ongoing.    Internal ramps closure As a result, the internal parking garage ramps will be closed temporarily from July 21 to August 18, to allow contractors to work safely within the space. During this closure, there will be no internal access between P1 and P2. To move between levels, drivers will need to exit the garage from the level they entered and use the alternate exterior entrance to access the other level. For example, if you enter P2 using the Laurier Avenue entrance and need to access P1, you will need to exit the garage and re-enter via the Elgin Street entrance. Signage will be posted at both exterior entrances, as well as at the ticket machines to alert drivers that the ramp will be out of service. Once a level reaches maximum capacity, a “Lot Full” sign will be placed at the entrance to alert drivers that the level is full. During the ramp closure, the car wash will also be closed. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time during this closure.
