Cataract surgery is classified as a medically-necessary surgery in Ontario. But thanks to rising wait times, today’s patients are turning to private clinics for surgical options. Those results have come with several asterisks, as some patients allege they were being upsold. This report from the Toronto Star comes at a time where the Ford government has continued to expand the number of privately-run surgical and diagnostic cataract centres.
