Alcohol tax and LCBO markup cuts pave way for potential price drops

As part of its 2025 budget, the Ford government cut taxes on spirits and beers, as well as reducing the markups the LCBO is able to charge on the products it sells.
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake said Tuesday that it is looking at imposing tolls on the roads crossing its territory in response to looming federal budget cuts.Grand Chief Cody Diabo told reporters the tolls could help offset the impact of cuts to federal departments, including Indigenous Services Canada.
