Ontario Court of Appeal rules federal voting system is constitutional

A panel of three Ontario Court of Appeal judges unanimously affirmed the constitutionality of Canada’s first-past-the-post electoral system in a ruling released on Monday.
The system, laid out in the Canada Elections Act, sees the candidate who receives the most votes in a given riding or electoral district become the member of Parliament.

The neurosurgery team at Toronto’s University Health Network has implanted a wireless brain-computer interface (BCI) in two Canadian patients with cervical spinal cord injuries.
The BCI implant is designed to restore control in performing some daily routines. It could allow a person with quadriplegia to check email, interact on social media, or use smart devices at home.
