From Conservatives to NDP, Canadians are reacting badly to Republican Senator Joseph E. Martin from Maine, who had the audacity to send a letter to Western Provinces, encouraging them to leave Canada and become American. British Columbia Conservative MLA, Brennan Day, writes, amongst other things: "You see, we don’t measure freedom by the number of firearms owned (but we do own a few) or how loud we can shout without consequence. We measure it by how we care for one another—how we build strong public institutions that ensure our kids are educated, our seniors are looked after, and no one goes bankrupt because they broke a leg or needed chemotherapy. Is our system straining currently? Absolutely. But even under strain, our healthcare outcomes are better, and our costs lower for the majority of our citizens. Do we have work to do? Definitely. But we’ll be looking East, not South, for those solutions."
Charlie Angus, NDP, also weighs in on this -- in his raw but polite manner.
The vile of the MAGA movement must be stopped. This is a good wake up call for Canada to not let fester the Western alienation and make proper economic and political deals that strengthen our country. MAGA will keep coming back, so we must be strong. We all know this MAGA move in Canada is extortion and they will use as much propaganda as possible to divide us. We need to stay strong and united.
