COVID-19 vaccines will cost most Albertans $100 a shot

Albertans who are not eligible for a free COVID-19 vaccine this fall will have to pay $100 to get a shot, the province announced Friday as it outlined another change to its highly scrutinized immunization program.
Alberta will be the only province in the country to make most of its residents pay out of pocket to get immunized against COVID-19 this October. Health care workers, immunocompromised individuals, seniors in care homes or receiving home care, and people on income support will continue to be covered by the province. The $100 administrative fee applies to all other Albertans.
OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the launch of Build Canada Homes (BCH) on Sunday, with an initial funding of $13 billion, in the hopes of getting more affordable housing built faster in Canada.
Carney made the announcement at a modular housing site in his riding of Nepean, in Ottawa, the day before Parliament is set to return for the fall session. He was accompanied by Housing Minister Gregor Robertson.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Israel on Sunday for meetings in Jerusalem with top officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“My focus will be on securing the return of hostages, finding ways to make sure humanitarian aid reaches civilians, and addressing the threat posed by Hamas,” said Rubio ahead of his departure.
“Hamas cannot continue to exist if peace in the region is the goal,” he added.
Rubio on Sunday afternoon visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City, accompanied by Netanyahu and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee.
