O-Train Line 1 closed September 13 and 14 for East Extension performance testing

September 9, 2025

O-Train Line 1 will be closed and full R1 service will run this weekend as planned work continues to prepare for the launch of the O-Train East Extension to Trim Station.

Following the successful completion of integration activities, performance testing on the system will require a full closure of O-Train Line 1 between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations all day on both Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14.

For customers, this means that on September 13 and 14:

  • O-Train Line 1 service will not operate between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations.
  • R1 bus service will run between Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations during normal hours of operation.
  • Customers may see out-of-service trains running on the line when testing is in progress.

The East Extension performance test is an important milestone to demonstrate that the system can achieve expected service levels at launch and in the future. During scheduled testing this weekend, work will also continue as part of the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual inspections in the St-Laurent tunnel. This necessary work is being coordinated with testing activities to minimize the number of disruptions for customers.

OC Transpo staff will be at key stations to support customers during this planned closure. For information on planned Line 1 service adjustments, visit octranspo.com. For trip planning assistance, use the Travel Planner or Transit app, or call 613-560-5000. You can also connect with OC Transpo through Facebook, Bluesky, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
