Judge dismisses media attempt to report details of mental-health history of accused in Lapu-Lapu case

Media outlets will not be able to report on the mental-health history of the man accused in the Lapu-Lapu Day street festival attack before his eventual trial on 11 counts of second-degree murder and 31 counts of attempted murder, a judge has ruled.
On Thursday, B.C. Provincial Court Judge Reginald Harris dismissed an attempt by a media consortium, which includes The Globe and Mail, to lift a publication ban on details of this summer’s hearing into the mental fitness of Kai-Ji Adam Lo.

Ontario announced on Wednesday that 25 fertility clinics will receive the first round of funding as a part of its $250-million plan to reduce waiting lists for in vitro fertilization and “triple” the number of families that can access expensive fertility treatments.The announcement provided details from the province’s first major expansion of its Ontario Fertility Program, which launched in 2015 to help people struggling with infertility pay for procedures such as IVF.

Canada and the United States “are much more coordinated” than it may appear, says Prime Minister Mark Carney.
“There is still a very deep, enduring and reinforcing relationship between Canada and the United States. As Canadians, we benefit from that,” said Carney via video call to the U.S.-Canada Summit in Toronto on Wednesday.
