School is back in session all across the country, which also means a heightened focus on healthy school lunches. And as we try to navigate through a testy trade war against the United States, not to mention an unpredictable economy in general, this mission is getting tougher to complete for families who are financially challenged. Sugary snacks, juice, and other pre-packaged foods are now frowned upon, but a growing number of parents fear that today’s educators are overstepping their boundaries. Should nutrition policies be standardized across all schools, or left to the individual classrooms and teachers to decide? Samantha Kemp-Jackson, a parenting educator and a mother to 4 kids, has gone through this song and dance before. She joins Kristy Cameron to offer her two cents on today’s Ottawa Now.
