Woman 'literally stuck' inside clear cruise ship water slide over the ocean

September 23, 2025

Video of a person getting caught in a cruise ship’s double looping waterslide hanging almost 50 metres over the ocean as it reportedly sailed along the Canadian coast has people online commenting how “ this is my worst nightmare .”

The 13-second clip posted by TikTok user @kaylamierzejewski on Sept. 19 shows a woman stuck in a clear portion of a tube slide trying to shimmy her way forward while lying on her back. The video uses the Jet2 Holiday jingle often used in social media videos about unique or strange vacation settings.

“She’s literally stuck,” says one person as others laugh in the background of the video, which has amassed 7.3 million views and nearly 10,000 comments.

Many viewers commented that finding themselves in the same predicament would bring about intense claustrophobia.

“I’m so claustrophobic this is my worst nightmare,” remarked @Colleen2513. While another, @Kristen_w17 said, “I had a panic attack just watching this.”

Others wondered why she didn’t simply get on all fours and start crawling her way out. “What am I missing? Can’t she roll over and start crawling,” asked @ gizmo the samoyed.

While not explicitly stated by the poster, the mishap appears to have occurred aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line’s Bliss, Encore or Joy vessel, all of which, according to CruiseMapper , were travelling through waters off B.C. around that time during separate seven- and nine-day voyages to Alaska and back to Seattle.

National Post has contacted the company to confirm if it was one of their vessels and the specific ship.

Each Breakaway class ship features two water slides, one of which is called the Ocean Loops, “a double loop waterslide that hangs 11 feet off the side of the ship and 159 feet above the ocean.”

While leaning back with arms crossed over their chest and their legs crossed, riders stand on a trap door above the slide, which, when released, should give the person enough momentum to carry them through two loops.

Riders must be at least four feet tall and weigh between 120 and 300 pounds, according to the FAQ .

Anyone who fails to make it through the first or second loop isn’t actually stuck or in any real danger. A ride attendant, notified by an alarm that someone didn’t complete a loop, heads down the stairs to open a hatch through which the rider can easily pull themselves out. Attractions Magazine has a YouTube video showing several people left in the same pickle aboard the Encore.
