Ottawa Now - Several Algonquin College students miss class due to work stoppage

October 2, 2025

Some of the students attending classes at Algonquin College’s flagship campus didn’t make it to the classroom on Thursday. That’s because they were allegedly blocked by support staff members who were on strike. We get one side of the story from Algonquin College student Skylar Smith, who eventually made it to her class but knows several friends who missed the boat. Then, we hear from Jessica Scallen, an OPSEU Picket Captain who was on the picket lines herself.
