  Alberta teachers’ strike begins, affecting around 700,000 students

  Teachers in Alberta went on strike Monday, affecting approximately 700,000 K-12 students and their families.
There were no formal negotiations between the province and the teachers’ union over the weekend, Jason Schilling, president of the Alberta Teachers’ Association, has said.
    Students at Quebec's four medical schools have voted for an unlimited general strike mandate over a new provincial law that ties part of doctors' remuneration to performance.
