Baseline and Greenbank intersection lane reductions
The City of Ottawa recently began construction at the intersection of Baseline and Greenbank roads for the Baseline/Greenbank transit priority intersection improvements project. Overhead utility work and underground duct work is ongoing, with storm sewer catch basin removals and installation underway over the coming weeks.
This reconstruction will bring improvements to the intersection including dedicated bus priority lanes, new concrete sidewalks and curbs, raised asphalt cycle tracks, and reconfigured traffic lanes. It will also include enhanced pavement markings and signage on Baseline Road, from Offenbach Lane to Constellation Drive.
Traffic impacts
Baseline Road, from Cornell Street to McWatters Road, and Greenbank Road, between Lisa Avenue and Monterey Drive, will have lane reductions in both directions. These impacts are expected to last until late November 2025.
Traffic delays throughout the construction zone are expected due to the ongoing lane reductions. Signage will be in place to notify residents of the impacted area, and temporary traffic calming measures have been installed on some adjacent local streets.
OC Transpo
Bus stops in the area will be temporarily shifted within a short distance, as needed, to accommodate work near the intersection.
OC Transpo Routes 68, 82, 88, 646, 688 and 691 may be impacted by traffic delays due to lane reductions. For information on transit service impacts, visit OC Transpo’s website.
Pedestrians and cyclists
Temporary sidewalk closures will be in place with appropriate signage on site, directing pedestrians as needed. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project.
Cyclists will be able to dismount and use the pedestrian route.
