Canada Post union to meet with Ottawa as strike continues

The union representing striking Canada Post employees says it will meet with the federal minister in charge of the Crown corporation after accusing Ottawa of trampling on the collective bargaining process.
Postal workers took to the picket lines nearly two weeks ago after Procurement Minister Joël Lightbound announced sweeping changes to Canada Post’s mandate that would allow the struggling postal service to overhaul its operations in the midst of negotiations with the union.
Cadaver dogs did not find the remains last month of two young children who went missing more than five months ago from their home in rural northeastern Nova Scotia.
The RCMP is continuing “to explore all possible scenarios in its efforts to locate (six-year-old Lilly Sullivan and four-year-old Jack Sullivan) after searches in Lansdowne Station (in late September) didn’t result in finding human remains,” the force said Wednesday in a news release.
