I will never forget the first day in January 2024 of our School Street pilot at Trille des Bois Elementary School in Vanier. All the parent volunteers were in place, reflective vests over our bulky winter coats, and the school principal was outside waiting to greet students and parents on Alice Street. An advocacy group in Newfoundland and Labrador says three activists from the province were recently detained by the Israeli military while they were part of a flotilla to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip.Palestine Action YYT issued a statement Wednesday identifying the three as Sadie Mees, Nikita Stapleton and Devoney Ellis, saying they were believed to be among many protesters detained by the Israeli navy earlier in the day.
