Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Wed. October 8th, 2025

October 8, 2025

As you heard in the later stages of Hour 1, the province-implemented supervisor of the OCDSB has scrapped the controversial changes to Ottawa’s elementary school program. But when it comes to the planned boundary changes, and where today’s kids will be attending their classes, will yesterday’s headaches still reign supreme? The conversation continues with Christine Burke, a mother of 2 kids who lives in Orleans. Then, we turn things over to Westboro resident Laura D'Angelo, whose son is in Junior Kindergarten and whose daughter is slated to hit the books in 2028. According to a new report from Ottawa’s Emergency Preparedness and Protective Services Committee, the city’s 911 system failed to meet its Call Answer Response Time targets for 2024. That’s despite a significant drop in the number of calls to the emergency system. We sift through the data with Barrhaven West councillor David Hill. Plus, if you were trying to get a free chicken sandwich at an Ottawa-based Chick-Fill-A, it might have been a tougher mission to complete than many first thought. CFRA's Chris Holski explains why.

If you have the chance to see a Japanese baseball game, you have to take it. In the Nippon Professional Baseball League, the high-energy baseball experience is an alt-reality of what MLB could be.Passionate fans wear face paint and scream individualized songs they know all the words to for each of their home team’s players, complete with horns; and in the style of a European soccer game, they carve out safe spaces in the stadiums for supporters of the opposing team. At the end of each game, the home team comes back out and bows to the fans in each section.
