Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Wed. October 15th, 2025

October 15, 2025

The Ford government says it has reached the halfway mark in clearing the province’s Health Care Connect waiting list. The waitlist is a government program that is designed to help Ontarians without a family doctor, matching people with a physician or nurse practitioner. However, the list doesn’t capture everyone without primary care, largely because you have to sign up. Not all Ontarians do. Regardless, the Ministry of Health insists that the program is working. Is it, and to what extent? Kristy Cameron chats with Dr. Alykhan Abdulla, a family doctor who is based in Manotick. Meantime, a tentative agreement has been reached for Ontario’s post-secondary support workers, as they prepare to head back to their workstations tomorrow. This signals the end of a multi-week strike at several Ontario Colleges, including Ottawa’s Algonquin College. We gather the details in Hour 1. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
