Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Mon. October 27th, 2025

October 27, 2025

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is standing by the ads that enraged U.S. President Donald Trump. His government ran an anti-tariff message that aired in the United States, sending America’s Big Cheese into a downward spiral. And now, trade negotiations between the North American neighbours have been suspended by Trump until further notice. In the aftermath, Ford is calling the ads a success, claiming that it got average Americans and U.S. politicians talking. Was pulling the anti-tariff commercial the right move? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. And in today’s edition of the Political Heat Panel, it’s all about tariffs and trade rules. Prime Minister Carney insists that trade progress was being made with America until the Ford government unveiled those ads. And as U.S. President Trump unveils new tariffs, Carney maintains that Canada will follow today’s trade rules. That’s coming up in Hour 3. Plus, we revisit Ottawa’s rising retail theft concerns with the help of Tom Doyle. He is a Security and Loss Prevention Specialist with Lion Guard Security.
