Budget, budget, and more budget. To be more specific, Canada’s 2025 Budget, which will now be presented in the Fall instead of the Spring. That is what we are talking about on today’s Ottawa Now. The Carney government has said that today’s budget presentation will include a list of ‘generational investments’, but will also include public service cuts. At the same time, the Prime Minister is promising that no major layoffs will be part of this plan, as some programs will be winded down or halted altogether. We gather the latest developments as they become available and we’ll take you live to Parliament Hill for the grand unveiling. Shifting gears to local news, the province has told the City of Ottawa to shut down every single speed camera on their active roster. That request will be granted on November 14th. Kristy Cameron chats with NDP MPP Catherine McKenney, who represents Ottawa Centre at Queen’s Park and once served as a Downtown Ottawa city councillor.
