Prime Minister Mark Carney is 'very pleased' budget vote passed

Prime Minister Mark Carney says he is 'very pleased' the government's budget passed and says it will help Canadians get ahead and protect 'our way of life.' Carney spoke to reporters before the weekly cabinet meeting in Ottawa a day after his minority government narrowly passed the budget in the House of Commons by a vote of 170 to 168.

A retired Regina police sergeant is expected to plead guilty Friday to criminal charges related to using police resources to pursue intimate relationships with dozens of vulnerable women. Robert Semenchuck, 53, had been expected to enter the plea in Regina Provincial Court on Thursday morning, but neither he nor his lawyer appeared in court. Court heard Mr. Semenchuck was prepared to offer a plea by phone, but Crown prosecutor Christopher Browne requested that the judge direct the accused appear in person.
