Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Fri. November 21st, 2025
The City of Ottawa is mulling over the potential purchase of a private landfill in the East End. According to city staff members, it’s a rare opportunity to help address Ottawa’s future garbage disposal dilemma. And earlier today, the Finance and Corporate Services Committee held a vote, with 8 of 11 voters voting in favour. However, the project’s biggest critics are raising a big stink about Friday’s outcome. Lucie Régimbald is the Vice-President of the Capital Region Citizens Coalition for Environment Protection. She explains why she is giving this idea a major thumbs-down. Then, we check in with Orleans West-Innes councillor Laura Dudas, who was among the crowd of voters who approved the idea. She outlines her reasoning in Hour 1. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
