Laurentian Bank announces sale to Fairstone Bank and National Bank

Fairstone Bank of Canada has agreed to acquire Laurentian Bank of Canada for $1.9 billion in cash. As part of the deal, Laurentian Bank will sell its retail and small-and-medium-sized business banking portfolios and syndicated loan portfolio to National Bank of Canada.
According to Calgary's mayor, the property tax increase as it currently stands would cost the typical residential homeowner an additional $3.90 per month.

The first test of the Real Estate Council of Ontario’s new administrator may be figuring out how to pay for promises made by Premier Doug Ford. Mr. Ford gave a speech on Monday at the Ontario Real Estate Association’s annual conference where he appeared to suggest that realtors who have commission income trapped in iPro Realty Ltd. bank accounts – frozen by court order – will be able to fully recover those funds.
