Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Tues. December 9th, 2025

December 9, 2025

We’ve been hearing plenty of talk about a new Downtown arena for the Ottawa Senators. For the bulk of 2025, the team’s ownership has been chatting with the NCC about LeBreton Flats. At some point, hopefully, the Sens will have a brand-new barn to play in. But nothing in life is free, and someone is going to pay for it. Today, the Sens have tipped their hand as to who they want to take the bill, and it’s not the municipality. Majority owner Michael Andlauer is hoping that the Ontario government and the federal government will be eager to join forces on this project. In Hour 1, we gather instant reaction with Canadian economist Moshe Lander. He is a Professor of Economics at Concordia University. Switching gears to other city news, once the calendar flips to 2026, changes will be coming to both your Black Bins and Blue Bins. CTV’s Katelyn Wilson helps us sort through the trash. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
