Carney, Ford to sign deal reducing regulatory burden on big projects, including Ring of Fire

Ottawa and Ontario are set to sign a deal Thursday that will reduce the regulatory burden on large projects, including the road to the Ring of Fire, The Canadian Press has learned.
Provincial and federal government sources who are not allowed to speak publicly say Ottawa has agreed to eliminate any duplicative work on its impact assessments on large projects.
A Coalition Avenir Québec member of the legislature was arrested this week for alleged impaired driving and is withdrawing from caucus for the duration of the legal proceedings.

Ottawa is sending military troops to a northern First Nation in Manitoba after a prolonged power outage forced the evacuation of thousands of people and damaged hundreds of homes.In a letter posted on social media late Friday, federal Emergency Management Minister Eleanor Olszewski said cabinet has agreed to deploy a specialized team from the Canadian Armed Forces to help Pimicikamak Cree Nation.
