March 6, 2026

According to the City of Ottawa, city staff doesn’t have the resources to enforce ‘school streets’. Neither does Ottawa Police. Advocates for these streets say not enough heavy-lifting is being done. Meantime, Quebec’s dairy industry has been advocating to recognize cheese curds as a controlled designation. On the surface, this type of poutine protectionism seems old-fashioned.
