Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Mon. March 9th, 2026

March 9, 2026

Drivers in Ottawa are feeling the ripple effects of the latest conflict in the Middle East, as gas prices sharply spiked this weekend. On Saturday, prices at the pumps rose by about 6 cents per litre, bringing the average price in Canada’s Capital to roughly $1.52 per litre. That’s significant when compared to the prices we saw just 2 weeks ago – when the average price was 19 cents lower. And as we sifted through the data, we discovered that the misery meter for public transit users is being triggered by LRT chaos. CTV’s Leah Larocque explains what LRT forces, in particular, are grinding their gears. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
