Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Wed. March 11th, 2026

March 11, 2026

In the wake of a menacing ice storm, Ottawa’s LRT faced a daunting test of survival. And unfortunately, Line 1 blinked, as an overhead cable snapped just before 1:30 this afternoon. Sophie Vincent, who works at UOttawa, witnessed part of the incident. Sofia Mandoli, a transit rider, felt the ripple effect of Wednesday’s disaster. Both join Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Plus, for the fourth time in 4 months, a Member of Parliament has crossed the floor to join the Carney Liberals. This time, it’s an NDP MP representing Nunavut. And with a trio of byelections scheduled for 2026, the Red Team only needs two vacant seats to secure a majority rule. CTV’s Mike LeCouteur drops by with the latest developments.
