Ottawa Now - In an effort to make darkened roads brighter, today's headlights might be a little too bright

Technology in vehicle headlights has advanced in recent years, allowing drivers to see the roads better under pitch-black skies. However, they might work a little too well, as oncoming drivers could be blinded by the light they generate. And to nobody’s surprise, complaints are going up, which has triggered a new survey from Transport Canada. They are collecting responses from drivers on its website about the brightness of headlights and what, if anything, should be done about it. The survey runs until April 20th. Daniel Stern is a Vancouver-based vehicle lighting and regulation expert, as well as the Chief Editor of Driving Vision News. He joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
MONTREAL – Prime Minister Mark Carney’s message to his party is that differences are a strength, as the Liberals stand on the cusp of a majority government in the House of Commons, with help from floor crossers from other political parties.
“Canada’s founding insight is that unity does not require uniformity,” he said during a closing speech at the Liberal national convention in Montreal on Saturday afternoon.
