Hats off to Abyssinia Abebe and Ashley Fraser for capturing in words and photos the magic that happened in the dining room of the Ottawa Mission on Easter Day. As a volunteer, I had the privilege of experiencing the smiles and appreciation of the guests. The article captures the numbers, 18,302 meals served Sunday and over the week before including 437 meals served to community partner organizations but also the heart, in the sentiments and words of client, political leaders, long time volunteers, a new volunteer and the grand master behind it all, Chef Ric Watson: “This meal brings everybody together”. Tumbler Ridge shooting survivor Maya Gebala may have undergone her fifth and final surgery on Monday.
