With the mercury set to rise, a local MPP is pushing the Ford government to create a maximum indoor temperature for rental housing. Ottawa-Centre MPP Catherine McKenney argues that the modern-day extreme heat is being recognized as a public health issue more often, especially within vulnerable populations. She joins us in Hour 2. Then, we pick the brain of Glen Kenney, a UOttawa Professor and the Director of the Human and Environmental Physiology Research Unit. His team studies how the human body reacts to extreme heat, and how hot is too hot. Kenney explains why the magic number is 26 degrees Celsius. Council today received an update on the City's response to the July 1 extreme weather event and approved additional measures to support affected residents.
